I am getting a pop-up error message from ASCTray.exe every time I start my computer. I have set CCleaner as part of my startup programs and when I click on it, there goes the message again. This happens on every computer restart I make. I would greatly appreciate any help.

Thank you so much.

Hi there Philip M Kao,

ASCTray is one of the tools that come with the Atheros wireless utility. If you don't use it, you can easily remove it via ControL Panel – Programs and Features.

In case you'd like to keep it, you will need to reinstall it as the error says the files are corrupted. The files got corrupted probably because of the CCleaner. CCleaner is a great tool to be used occasionally, but not for the everyday use and especially not to be used as the utility that starts from the autorun as it will often delete files needed for your system to work properly.

In order to make things work you will need to disable CCleaner ensuring that autorun option is disabled and then try to see if error will repeat. If yes, uninstall the ASCTray and reinstall it without CCleaner.

Quick workaround would be just to select the continue application, but in that case the annoying error will continue to pop up.

Best regards,
Drake Vivian
