Hello,
My Windows Server 2003 machine added as a node in my current network but not as a root. When I try to install Active Directory while working on my existing domain network, I forced to get out from the network.
Please help me how to install Active Directory. Thanks a lot.

Hello,
Apart from dcpromo it can be installed using following steps.
-
Go to properties of my computer and click “Computer Name Tab”, and change.
-
Set Computer’s NETBIOS name, in server 2003, can be changed after promoting to Domain Controller, click “More”.
-
In Primary DNS suffix of this computer box enter domain nae very carefuly because if may done wrong have side effects.
-
Click Ok
-
Restart system on prompt

Now configure TCP/IP settings:-

In ctrl panel go to dial up connections and go to properties of Local Area Connection.

Go to properties of TCP/IP.
-
Now assign static IP address, subnet mask, and gateway address to this server, Enter the server's IP address in the Preferred DNS server box.

Click Advanced.
-
Click the DNS Tab.
-
Select "Append primary and connection specific DNS suffixes"
-
Check "Append parent suffixes of the primary DNS suffix"

Check "Register this connection's addresses in DNS". If this Windows 2000/2003-based DNS server is on an intranet, it should only point to its own IP address for DNS; do not enter IP addresses for other DNS servers here. If this server needs to resolve names on the Internet, it should have a forwarder configured.

Click OK to close the Advanced TCP/IP Settings properties.

Click OK to accept the changes to your TCP/IP configuration.

Click OK to close the Local Area Connections properties.

Hi,
To install Active Directory go through the process:
-
Click on Start, click on Run, insert dcpromo and click OK.

Click Next on the initial page of Active Directory Installation Wizard.

Click Next on the next page.
-
Click on Domain Controller and click Next.
-
Click Domain in a new forest and click Next.
-
Insert corp.contoso.com in New Domain Name page and click Next.
-
Select default on the page of Database and Log Folders and click Next.
-
Select default on the page of Shared System Volume and click Next.
-
Click Install on the page of DNS Registration Diagnostics to build up the DNS server and select as preferred DNS Server and click Next.

Click Permissions compatible with Windows Server 2003 and click Next.
-
Insert password in Restore Mode Password, reenter it and click Next.
-
Verify the given information on Summary and click Next.
-
Restart your system. Now log on CONT-CA01.
