Hi,
Disadvantages:
- Java interfaces are slower and more limited than other platforms like C++ and others .
- The interface should be used multiple number of times as there is hardly any use of having them.
In my opinion these are the only main disadvantages of using Java runtime 2010. I hope this helped you.

Multiple vulnerabilities exist in QuickTime for Java, which might allow possibly untrusted Java applets in obtaining elevated privileges.
This issue is said to be caused due to an error within the Java handling in QuickTime. However it's unspecified yet. It is said that this can be exploited to execute arbitrary code whenever a user visits an infected web site using a Java-enabled popular browsers such as Safari or Firefox.
This is said to be reported on Mac OS X systems where Safari and Firefox are used. Other browsers and platforms may also be affected.
