PICT format not supported by Photoshop

Hi guys,

On my MacBook, OS 10.6.8 I got CS 5.5. Before this version I have used CS4 and I didn't get any problems.

Many PCT files I have from After Effect CS4 project and when I want to start them in new CS I got error message. Is something strange going on or CS5 does not support PICT format

Thank you,

Nickky

The message is clear, “Could not complete your request because the PICT contains data that is no longer supported in this version of Photoshop”.

You are using Adobe Photoshop CS5 and the file that you are trying to access is from the previous version, Adobe Photoshop CS4, which is already not supported with the current version that you are using. If you still need to use the files created on the previous version, uninstall Adobe Photoshop CS5 and then install the previous version so you can work again with your files.

To add the technical aspect, here are the system specifications for Adobe Photoshop CS5:

Windows

  • Windows XP Service Pack 3, Windows Vista Home Premium/Business/Ultimate/Enterprise Service Pack 1 (Service Pack 2 recommended), Windows 7
  • Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon 64 or higher processor
  • 1 GB RAM
  • 1 GB free hard drive space, installation on flash drives is not supported
  • 16-bit 1024 x 768 screen resolution, 1280 x 800 recommended
  • Video card with 256 MB built-in video RAM, supports Shader Model 3.0 and OpenGL 2.0
  • DVD drive
  • QuickTime 7.6.2
  • Internet connection

Mac

  • Mac OS X 10.5.8, 10.6 or higher
  • Multi-core Intel processor
  • 1 GB RAM
  • 2 GB free hard disk space, doesn’t support flash drive installation or in a case-sensitive file system
  • 16-bit 1024 x 768 screen resolution, 1280 x 800 recommended
  • Video card with 256 MB built-in video RAM, supports Shader Model 3.0 and OpenGL 2.0
  • DVD drive
  • QuickTime 7.6.2
  • Internet connection

Well, it seems that adobe CS5 application that you installed is not supported by the operating system that you are using on the MacBook, and therefore the problem is a result of compatibility issues.

To resolve the problem you will need to do the following:

  • Check the system specifications of your mac book, the platform that is being used and other details.
  • And then go to the internet and then search for the adobe aftereffects cs5 program that meets those system specifications.
  • Download and install it.

In case the CS4 version was giving better functionality, then you just choose to reinstall it and continue using it instead of going into the trouble of looking for the CS5 version.
