Nice question Joel, to be honest notebooks/ultra-books and tablets are the biggest threats for the Desktops but only from one perspective, for those who are always on the go. But for users who need more horsepower for their power hungry applications like video rendering/game development Desktops are quite apt.

The youth however is biased to tablets because of their portability and ability to be online on their favorite social network sites all the time. To sum it all up, for people on the move ultra-books/tablets are good and for heavy computing use Desktops are the best. However, PCs wont go extinct though, at least not in the near future.

That’s right. If you will ask me which to choose between a desktop computer and a laptop computer, I would still go with desktop computer. I always encounter temperature problems whenever I use a laptop. If not properly placed for the fan to properly suck air, the processor easily gets overheated and eventually shutting down the machine. You have to wait for another couple of minutes until it becomes cold again and operational and it is very annoying every time it happens.

And even if how long I have been using the laptop in our house I’m still not used to using its keyboard. I can’t type fast enough unlike in a desktop computer with the regular keyboard. I don’t know but not all people have the same opinion since it depends on their preference. In a laptop computer, it’s hard to do some hardware upgrade since it can’t be opened that easily unlike with the usual bulky desktop computer.
