Permission to buy songs by different users

We have multiple user accounts on our iMac, one each for a family of four. We have created an iTunes library that is shared by all. What problem we are facing is that only I can download new songs from the Store app, none of the others can. They get an error message everytime they try accessing the store app to download new songs. Why is this so? How can I allow other users to buy songs when they are logged in?

Permission to buy songs by different users

Hi Ana,

This happens because none of the other users have the proper permission to download or play music from the store app. However, these permissions can be fixed easily by running a script that uses the “chmod” command so as to modify your music for anyone to play. The trick is getting the script to run only when necessary. In addition, the other option would be dragging to a public location the iTunes Media folder. You can get more information from this support.apple.com site and this elasticdog.com site. I hope this information helps.
