The E-Paper wrist watch has the following functions:

144 x 166 pixel E-Paper display

Bluetooth 2.1+EDR

4 Buttons

Vibration and audible alerts

3 axis accelerometer

Backlight for display

Will be water resistant (thanks to high level of pledges/suggestions)

7+ day battery (charges via USB)

22mm lugs

Choice of colors

Pricing starts at $115

It will be completely managed from the user’s smart phone, but availability will be limited to iPhone/iPod Touch or Android 2.3 or up. It works as a wrist-top screen of your smart phone, and displaying user-selected information via a Bluetooth 2.1 connection. By this you can see incoming caller ID, weather information, music control, alarms, SMS, as well as notifications by email, Twitter, Facebook and many more.

On the other hand the Sony’s Smart Watch has 1.3-inch OLED display with a resolution of 128 x 128.It has the Google Play features, by this you also can see the notification of Twitter and Facebook.

So, if you compare the two wrist watches, they both are good, but the E-Paper wrist watch are much better from the Sony’s Smart Watch by its look and advance technology.

I think the Sony SmartWatch has another competitor besides the Motorola MOTOACTV SmartWatch. Pebble is a customizable SmartWatch where you can download new watchfaces, use applications for fitness and sports as well as receive notifications from your Smartphone. The only feature that the Sony and Motorola SmartWatches don’t have, I think, is the downloadable watchfaces for the device. Besides that, all are the same.

The Pebble SmartWatch has handy internet-connected applications with good-looking downloadable watchfaces and most importantly, it can be customized endlessly. It can be connected to any Android and iPhone Smartphones via Bluetooth. It alerts you with a silent vibration whenever you receive calls, messages, and emails. And you can dismiss an alert by simply shaking your wrist. The Pebble SmartWatch is compatible with iPhone 3GS, 4, 4S, or iPod touch running on iOS 5, and Smartphones running on Android 2.3 and up. It works best with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

Excellent explanations Charkh Pete and Sharath Reddy. Thanks for sharing your incredible views with me. By analyzing your comments, I have understood what different applications and functionalities make the E-Paper wrist and Sony’s Smart Watch different from each other. Your comments are full of amazing information about these watches which are all new to me. I am extremely surprised by the Pebble SmartWatch alert system which has a silent vibration. When I receive calls, messages and emails, it will alert me and if I wish to dismiss an alert, only a simple shaking of my wrist can do that. Thanks guys for sharing with me this information.
