PC Restore was Unsuccessful with Windows XP

I am running Windows XP on my Dell Dimensions 5150 desktop PC. When I am performing a reboot, I clicked F11 so that I could perform the PC Restore. I got an error message saying that the:

“Restore was unsuccessful. Please click restart to reboot.”

Now I just did what it said. I rebooted my PC but my files are inaccessible. Then it gave me a second error message:

Loading PBR for descriptor 2… done. A disk read error occurred. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart.

I am now so tired of doing everything again like rebooting, restarting and all. And I just ended up to the same problem. Please help me how to fix this. I could not be able to view my files.

Thanks!

RE: PC Restore was Unsuccessful with Windows XP

This may happen due to many reasons. One of them is there may be corrupted data in the system restore. You may turn off/on system restore to delete corrupted files. (Go to Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> system Tools -> System Restore). Now Click System Restore Settings on left side. Check "Turn off System Restore", click OK, follow prompts and reboot.

This will delete all restore points including corrupted data. Now again go back and turn on the " System Restore" and create a restore point.

You need to press the F8 key, or the key that takes you to the options for window then you need to select the safe mode and then perform a system restore point or select the last configuration point and then press enter key. It will configure the windows file if some files are being corrupted.

You can then restart your computer in normal mode, and it will work fine. The other way is to start your computer in safe mode and then perform a safe mode and then restore your computer to a previous state. Choose a date for which you want to perform the system restore and then you need to perform that system restore. After you have done this all of your files will work fine.

Also boot your computer in safe mode and make a full virus scan to your computer and you need to check your disk also by chkdsk command in Cmd. All the things once checked then you can run your windows easily.

I think you may change your computer hard disk as well. After that you need to set up again.I think that would be better.
