My PC encrypted with McAfee Endpoint PC Encryption software hangs at log on time and displays a black or blank screen.

Encryption user name and password can be entered successfully at the encryption log on screen, however PC hangs before the Windows log on screen appears.

Can someone assist me on this ?

There may be a problem with a connected device, such as en external USB printer, docking station or USB hard drive.

Please review the below instructions:

1. Power the machine off.

  • If your PC is a laptop: Remove any device attached to the PC.  Examples can include external USB hard drive or USB printers.  If your PC is attached to a docking station or port replicator undock the PC.
  • If your PC is a desktop: Remove any device attached to the PC except for the keyboard, monitor and mouse.  Examples can include USB hard drive or flash drive or USB printer

2. Restart the PC and retry logon.

3. If you still see the problem when the PC has no device attached and is not docked and you are sure about the black screen (should not be a blue screen error), if you are using a Laptop, then perform a Power-drain.

Shutdown Laptop > Remove Power Adapter > Remove Battery > Press the Power Button 3-5 times to flush the possible static charge stored in circuits.

Then reseat the battery and try to power-on Laptop in the usual manner.

Hope this helps !

Best Regards
