When I try updating from Paint.NET v.3.5.5 Beta Release build 3.55.3762.38843 to Paint.NET v3.5.5, it gets through most of the update, but then it shows this error(picture below). When I click Cancel, it uninstall what it did and then shows Fatal error 1603.

Paint.Net update got fatal error

Hello Ruth,

It seems like you are trying to update the application from a directory on your computer, and it appears that the directory you are updating from does not have the update package needed. You will therefore need to do the following to fix the issue:

  • If you still want to update the application offline, go and download the update package required and then create a folder on your desktop and save in it. And then perform the update making sure that you point to the folder that has the update package.
  • You can as well perform the update directly online. Just make sure that you have a strong connection to the internet before you use this procedure.

Regards,

Carl
