Hi,

Usually, for MS Outlook Add-in this problem is occurred which it prevents Outlook from closing down. Follow below steps to resolve this issue.

  1. ‘File’<’Options’.
  2. Choose Add-In on the left hand pane and then you will see a button ‘COM Add-Ins’ near the bottom.
  3. Set the drop box to ‘COM Add-Ins’ and then click ‘GO’.
  4. Look for ‘Search Email Indexer’ window and highlight it.
  5. Click ‘OK’ and close ‘Outlook’.
  6. Re-start Outlook as well as run the backup now.

If you receive error code “0x80070021” in Microsoft Office Outlook, the usual cause is the Microsoft Office Communicator because it is frequently tightly connected with Microsoft Office Outlook. Try closing Microsoft Office Communicator then see if it works. If this doesn’t work, try this one instead. In Microsoft Office Outlook, click “File” then select “Outlook Options” at the bottom. In “Options” window, select “Add-Ins” on the left pane.

On the right, at the bottom in “Manage”, select “COM Add-ins” then click “Go”. Now, in “COM Add-Ins” dialog, select “Search Email Indexer” if you see it then click “Remove”. Click “OK” then restart Microsoft Office Outlook. See if this works. If you don’t see this item listed, check for “Windows Email Receiver Index” instead and remove it.
