Outlook cannot open a .csv attachment

Hi,

There is a problem with my Microsoft Outlook 2007. It cannot open a .csv attachment.

This is the first time I have ever received such file, and my boss requires me to view it. There is no change done in my Outlook 2007, and I have tried to open other attachments such as the word document, pictures, or even PDF, but it worked fine.

It is just that this .CSV attachment cannot be opened. What should I need to do for it to work?

Or is there a configuration I need to setup in order to view this?

If it may help, the file is 2434KB.

Please assist.

Hi

CSV, or Comma-Separated Value files are usually used in outlook to store contacts from different email providers for easy population of your contacts in outlook.

What you can do with that file in Outlook is to import it, here's how:

  1. Download the CSV file to your computer.
  2. In Outlook 2007, go to File and find Import and Export, click it.
  3. Highlight the option Import from another program or file then click the Next button.
  4. Select Comma Separated Values (Windows) and click Next once again.
  5. Now from here, click the Browse.. button and find the CSV file you need. Customize it as you wish and click Next.
  6. Find Map Custom Fields to match up the category names inside the CSV file.
  7. Select the destination folder where the contact list should be saved and click Next then Finish.

You can try saving the .csv attachment first and after that, right click the file and then open with. Choose notepad on the list of program. It will definitely open the.csv file without any issues.

Also try to open it with MS Excel by doing the same but this time select MS Excel.

You can also Import the file to the Excel spreadsheet to make sure that you can view it or even try opening an Excel first and then open the .csv file by simply choosing Open and then in open dialog box is the .csv file to open.
