When I tried to install oracle 11g on my other computer, I've stumbled on this error out of memory but 11g is perfectly installed in my other computer that has the same memory, any idea how to fix this?

Hi Jair,

I worked on your problem and got nothing but using shared memory. In this case, to install Oracle you should use 40% of total memory as shared memory of your machine. But I think you should more than 40% to get better performance. Just do it and get rid of the problem.

Thanks for asking.

Hi there,

It seems the shared memory usage issue while installing oracle. Oracle is trying to create shared memory segment but operating system did not allow as the assignment violated the memory usage rules set by the OS. You will need to increase the shared memory size in your operating system. These parameters are configured in OS specific files. Please check for your particular operating system. For example on Solaris 10, it often needs to be set to 10G. Hope that helps.

Thanks all. Abbot Nimrod, by reading your solution I have gotten an idea as to why I have this problem. Your idea is right about the shared memory usage issue while installing oracle. According to your advice, I have increased the shared memory size in my operating system and also checked my particular operating system. After doing these, now I am free from this problem.
