ORA-07445: exception encountered: core dump

Hi,

The error is: ORA-07445: exception encountered: core dump [ACCESS_VIOLATION]

I am getting this error in alert log while trying to open one of our oracle production db running on windows server.

I am able to mount it without any problem but once I try to open it, it just hangs and the smon trace file grows very big 500mb+ until I terminate the session.

I want to know the reasons of this error and how can I solve it?

Thanks.

Hi there,

I have read your query and want to share with you that ORA-07445 is a generic error, OS dependent, all the times requires logging a service request (SR) with Oracle Technical support on MOSC.  In general, we can say that "exception" is a un-trapped error, Its same like dividing a number by zero. The error note will be like this

Error: ORA-07445 exception encountered: core dump is an operating system exception error occurrence which is going to be resulting in the creation of a core file and hence therefore is a internal error & to resolve this problem you need to be consulting oracle customer support center online helpdesk.

Good day,

Try this one, it might help you:

From the default version, export your feature classes to a personal geo database.

You will then re-import it and version it again. Make sure your settings are correct and add also security privileges.

Download a technical paper from the link to help you convert the data columns:

From the server create this: DISABLE_SPATIAL_CACHE=TRUE, this will then results to a performance hit. Just try one of those, that will really help you.
