When I am opening MS Outlook 2003 and checking the mails, I am getting the following error message from Avast! Plugin.

Please help me to solve the problem.

Error – avast!: Cannot scan the message body.

Error code is 80004005.

Unspecified error.

You are totally right. This is really a bug in the current version. Please see here for more details.

They are planning to fix this in the latest version 4.7.986.

Hello Charmaine hollman,

Starting from avast 7.0.1473 or higher,all incoming and outgoing e-mails handled by Microsoft Outlook are scanned by avast Outlook Add-In by default and not by the Mail Shield,therefore the connection is made directly from Microsoft Outlook when e-mails are being received or sent. You can solve this either by changing your anti-virus version or configuring all credentials and encryption setting of your e-mails setting in Microsoft Outlook exactly as specified by mail service provider.

Hello Charmaine,

 

Do you have any other antivirus before avast?

One solution is to try to repair your installation. 

Goto Control panel then look for Add and remove programs, search for Avast then click remove.

Then in the pop up window, choose the repair function. (repair).

If this did not work out, try to un-install then restart, install and reboot again.

 

I hope this helps you fix your problem in outlook.
