Hi Peter, It would be great to use old CDROM as a CD player. Most CDROM are put-aside and or junk with out knowing it's usage and can still be useful. It can work as a stand alone music and movie player. Now, how this works? Connect CD Rom with an Audio-Out Output wire to a headphone and or speaker/amplifier. It will run the player even with out computer. It needs power supply and a D-type power connector that uses as a circuit outputs in a CDROM. A LED light will lit in the CDROM drive indicate that it's functioning. You can also re-track song and can move forward and backward as soon as the CD is inserted. It has button/function in front where you can press to start playing the song. Hope this helps.

Hi Peter,

  • Most CD Rom often had thrown it away because it is useful when a computer crashed.
  • Here are some tips to make it useful;
  • Connect CD Rom to a speaker/amplifier with D-type of connector. Plugged it into 12v yellow wire and you can now use it. You can play music; retract sounds, forward and backwards songs. You can control the sounds by using the button in front. Press and it will make the sounds clear.
  • Here are screen shots on how to install CD Rom with speaker/amplifier.

It has main input with Rectifier and Regulator External CD Rom and Stereo Audio Output and Tape Deck plus speaker.
