I have office MAC 2004 installed on my Snow Leopard OS X 10.6 machine. After the installation, whenever I try to open any application like Excel or Word, I get the following error message:
An unexpected error occurred while trying to load the Microsoft Framework library.
I tried doing a Microsoft Auto Update, it fails to complete. Neither did uninstall and reinstall work. Is there any different package that I need to install?

Try to use Finder's Get Info command and look for Entourage version and build number.
Also you should try these steps:

Quit any Office v. X programs/processes that are currently running.

Locate the folder in ~/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Office 2004 Identities then open it.

Open the folder for the affected identity.

Make sure that the Identity folder is not locked (to know if its locked it should show a small padlock in the files icon’s lower left corner).

If in case it is locked, select the file and then click Show Info on the File menu then click “to clear the Locked” check box and then just close the Show Info window.

Remember to unlock every locked file you will encounter. Office program should now start properly.
