Some of us do use older version of Ubuntu that is 14.04 and after updating NVEDIA drivers and restarting the pc a lot of users are coming across complete black screens and often getting stuck at login loops. What can be the way around this without reinstalling the OS and losing all data?

This occurs as the recent nvedia drivers have been found to have issues with older versions of Ubuntu. It can be solved by following the steps below.

a) Remove all nvedia software that have been installed. Highlight Ubuntu menu entry by pressing E key. Add ‘nouveau.modset=0’ to the end of the Linux line and press f10 key to boot Ubuntu. When login screen appears press ctrl+alt+f1, enter your username and password and then execute

Install nvedia driver 352 from repositories. And follow step a) for rebooting Ubuntu. After a reboot your problem should be solved
