Hi experts

I have a problem. Why can’t my NT4 users make a connection to the Windows 2000 domain? Is it compatibility issue?  Do I have to change some security features to enable them to access the domain?

Please help. Thanks a lot.

Well there is always the compatibility issue when you are trying the backward compatibility within the software like in your case you are trying to access data from windows 2000 from a NT4 interface so it might not be possible.

However there are few steps that you can try to see if it really works or not.

  1. You can technically use the workgroup option in the windows.
  2. Because most of the rules and policies require that you join the domain so that to get the full access to it.
  3. If you are using a modem or a router, you also have to define the TCP/IP approach too.
  4. First do this and then move to the next portion.
  5. You can also see the detailed guide. It has all the steps clearly visible for every user to go around them.
