Not able to add new contacts in iPhone with iOS 5.0.1

Each time I try to add a new contact, I am unable to type any address in the “To” field in an email. Also the + sign is not functional in the addition of a contact. The phone ends up crashing when I attempt to do this.

All these errors started after I installed a software update to IOS 5.0.1 on both my iPad and iphone4. However, the iPad was not affected by this. I am unable to restore backup since there is none of it and I am unable to check contact settings under Cloud. I don’t have any other option to correct the situation and so I am desperate for your help.

I am hoping to find a solution to this problem that is currently threatening to grind my work to a halt. The job that I have entails making phone calls to several people, however, this is being made difficult by the fact that my iphone4 has now refused to have any other new contact added; forcing me to call from the favorite’s list.

Hi Jessica,

iOS 5 is now using iCloud so that your emails, contacts, messages and calendars can be accessed wirelessly via your network. If after upgrading your OS you are unable to add contacts after the upgrade, you just need to turn on Contacts on your iCloud option for you to be able to add contacts.

To do that, go to Settings > iCloud > toggle the slider in line with Contacts > Click on ok if it ask you to merge the data. You should be able to add, delete and edit your contacts. You can turn if off again if you like and you would have the add option still enabled.  Aristono
