Nokia Lumia 535 Dual Sim Issues

Hello! I just bought Nokia Lumia 535 dual sim and it has been a terrible experience so far. It has been a big disappoint because I really cannot use any application on this phone. It does not install whatsapp ,viber or any other app. Resetting my phone didn't help at all either. What should I do? Help

The first thing to try is to make sure that you have the latest update of your software for your phone.  You can manually check for updates by following the steps below:

  1. Go to “Settings”>”Phone Update”>”Check for Updates”.  There is no need to connect the phone to a computer, you can simply download the updating straight from your phone.  All settings, photos, text messages and all apps will remain as is when you update the phone software.
  2. To install the update, press the Notification Message and follow the steps that appear on the phone.
  3. Updates normally take about 15 – 45 minutes, but if this is the first update, it could take anywhere up to 2 hours.  Do not use the phone during the update installation.  While the phone is updating, it might restart a few times, this is normal.  You might need to install additional apps from the Store to enable new features on the phone.  If any apps are needed, your phone will prompt you to install them.
  4. Once the update has completed, restart your phone.

To download any free app, game etc. you can follow the following steps:

  1. Go to the Start screen on your phone, swipe left and select “Store”
  2. Touch on a app to view details and specs of the app
  3. Touch on the “Install” button to install the app
  4. If you are currently not signed in to your Microsoft Account, you will be re-directed to sign in
  5. Follow the instructions as shown on the phone

Depending on the file size, apps shouldn’t take long to install (about 2-5 minutes).  Once the download is finished, you can either open the app or you can continue searching for more apps.  Depending on the app you installed determines where the app is stored, for e.g. Music and Videos are stored in “Music, Video and Podcast” folder, Games can be found in the “Games” folder and all downloaded apps are found in the “App Menu”.

You can only download and install apps that have been downloaded from the MarketPlace (Windows Phone Store). Here is an example of downloading WhatsApp:

  1. Go to the home screen on your phone
  2. Click on the “Marketplace” icon
  3. Click on the magnifying glass (search) and type WhatsApp

When the search is complete, click on “Install” and follow the on screen steps
