Hi,

If having an error when installing, it is possible that the file that you downloaded is corrupted or damaged that's why installation process is interrupted. When downloading files from the web, make sure that the website is trusted. You can try to download the x264 video codec at download.cnet. You may try this link http://download.cnet.com/x264-Video-Codec/3000-13632_4-10781355.html

To decode, I suggest that you use a recent build of DivX H.264 Decoder, FFD Show or any media player that supports H.264 internally. Some media players that support H.264 for Windows is: VLC (Video LAN Client), KMPlayer, MplayerUI, MPlayer frontend.

Importantly, Microsoft.NET Framework 2.0, AVISynth and DGindex are required to use with MeGUI. Also VFW and installer were removed from auto update or VFW is outdated. However, you may try Leiming's x264 HUI or x264 VFW.

As a reminder, has its own limits. x264 does not support the error resilience features of extended profile and baseline, not the alternative color spaces of high profile.

That program is probably designed to convert videos in other formats into H.264 MP4 video files and is expecting an input file. If you want to install the x264 or H.264 video codec on your computer, one way of doing it is by installing a video converter that can convert videos into MP4 format using the H.264 codec.

There are two codec that can be used to convert a video into MP4: MPEG4 and H.264. Any of these two can be used but the best is H.264 because it creates a much smaller file compared to the standard MPEG4 codec. Now, to install this codec on your computer, download ImTOO MPEG Encoder Platinum 5.1.26 build-1016. Follow the instructions to download, unpack, and register.

ImTOO MPEG Encoder Platinum video converter

It supports Windows XP Service Pack 2 and Windows Vista (Home Premium, Business, Enterprise, or Ultimate). It requires Intel Pentium IV, Intel Centrino, Intel Xeon, Intel Core Duo or equivalent processor, 512 MB RAM, 30 MB hard drive space, 800 x 600 screen resolution or higher, and 16-bit or higher video card. Visit ImTOO MPEG Encoder to download the latest.
