Windows Mail on my Windows 7 Computer

Hi,

My son got me a new computer last week, for my birthday and it has Windows 7 on it. I can’t find Windows Mail. I also tried to look on the installed programs to check if there are any email programs installed but was not able to find anything.  With my previous computer, I was using Windows mail. Now this new computer has nothing on it.

Should I ask my son to return this and have this installed? Could they have just missed installing it. Help me, please.

Windows Mail on my Windows 7 Computer

Hi Phillip John,

I have read your issue,  you might be using Windows before and was quite familiar with the programs on it. There are some changes in the Windows 7 program. The new email program is called Windows Live Mail. For you to be able to use your email on Windows 7 program, you have to download Windows Live Mail for free.  There are really some Windows 7 computers that don’t have that program installed yet.

You can download it here

After downloading the email program to your computer, you will need to set up your email on it. You will need your username, a working password, SMTP and pop server’s information. You can get it from your ISP or if you have set-up your Windows Mail before you can use the same information.

Here are the steps on adding a new email account on Windows Live Mail:

Click on Tools then go to Accounts then hit Add and choose E-mail account. Fill in the information needed. Then click Next.

Select Incoming server type. Type in the pop address and just leave port into its default settings. Your log-in Id should be your username. For the Outgoing server box type in your smtp address and leave the ports in default as well. Then click Next.

The process is now done. Check the box below only if you want this account to be the default. Click Finish.
