StumbleUpon, a prominent website service which enables net surfers to discover new websites based on their interests, has a new competitor, courtesy of Flipora. Will the main characteristic of Flipora, which is to serve out websites based on a net user’s surfing history, take away the loyal users of StumbleUpon’s services?

Nothing works like that. Sure, there are many people who have enjoyed using Flipora, perhaps even encouraging StumbleUpon users to give it a go. But human nature shows us that in as much as Flipora might erode the potential users that StumbleUpon could have had, it will not simply crumble due to a loss in market share. Our capitalistic system is very competitive and there are pros and cons in each of these companies that will always appeal to specific people.
