The latest iOS 7 update process did not run smoothly for most Apple iPhone and iPad users. There have been reports of numerous errors while running the update on their devices. The Error 9006 is a common issue when installing iOS 7 update through iTunes. And this prevents the users from completing the iOS 7 installation. If you receive the Error 9006 during the iOS 7 update in iTunes, you need to close iTunes and then restart the update process. Also, turning your Apple iOS device on and off worked for several users. However, if those I mentioned did not work for you, Apple is suggesting that you turn off any third-party security software.

Another way is to check on the original packet size. They also provide information on how to reset it.

How to reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)

Users also need to check if the ports 80 and 443 are allowed. But users who have not made changes or neither under a work network need not to worry. You also need to check if albert.apple.com and phobos.apple.com are not blocked by using some Firewall program.

If you started the iOS download and received error, you may need to remove the partial iOS 7 download so iTunes will restart the process again. The path are given for Windows and Mac users below:

Windows Vista and 7:

C:UserscomputernameAppDataRoamingApple ComputeriTunes

Windows XP:

C:Documents and SettingscomputernameApplication DataApple ComputeriTunes

To access the AppData folder easily, click on Start and type %appdata% in the text field and then press the Return key.

For Mac OS X:

~/Library/iTunes/

(~ is your Home Directory)

And then search for the iPhone Software Updates, iPad Software Updates or iPod Software Updates depending on your iOS device. If this step fails again, run the iOS 7 update on another computer or do it Over-The-Air. On your iPhone or iPad devices, go to Settings and then General and Software Update to run the update directly.

You may also need to install the latest iTunes Version 11.1 and then try running the update again. Apple also recommends to discard the .ipsw file and then launch iTunes and run the update. Lastly, you may also try to wait for another time or day to start the iOS 7 update. This is for a reason that Apple’s server becomes overloaded due to the number of users attempting to install the latest iOS 7.

You’re right. There have been a great number of users who are having the same kind of problem as you are. Some say the problem may have been caused by too many users updating their phone’s operating system at the same time. And this is very possible since there are many people using iPhone all over the world.

If this is true then try updating your handset some other time or during off-peak hours. This way you are sure that there is no traffic congestion building in your network that will prevent you from finishing updating your mobile phone. If this doesn’t work for you then your next option is to check the version of your iTunes.

Almost all of the users who are complaining in Apple’s Technical Support are receiving the same error: “NSURLErrorDomain error -1102.)(102)”. And even if you did not mentioned in your post the version of your iTunes, it’s still very obvious that you are receiving the same error as what they are receiving.

Most of them are using iTunes 11.1.0. There is one who managed to solve this problem by updating iTunes to 11.1.126 but doing it directly from the download page instead of using the updater. So to possibly solve your problem, using your web browser go to Download iTunes 11.1 to download the latest version.

After downloading, uninstall iTunes from your computer and then install the newly downloaded file. If there are also other users who are using your Mac computer, check each user to make sure iTunes is not left running in other accounts. This is because if one user left iTunes running and you switched to your user account, this will prevent you from updating it.

If this happens, go back to his account, close iTunes, logout from his account and then login to your account and then restart updating. This will solve your problem.
