Hello,

There are main 3 protocols used at the data link layer of the OSI model. Those are Token ring, FDDI and Ethernet.

Token ring: Token ring is a LAN protocol that develops a token-passing media access technology in a physical ring or physical star topology, which generates a logical ring topology.

FDDI: FDDI is a LAN protocol that utilizes a token-passing media access method on a dual ring topology.

Ethernet: The most popular LAN by a mile, Ethernet is a group of protocols and standards that work at either the Physical or Data Link layer of the OSI model.

Thank You,

John major.

Hi,

The Data Link Layer offers the useful and technical way to transport data among network unit. It is used to distinguish and accurate inaccuracy that may happens in the physical layer.

Examples of data link protocols

1.      Ethernet  for local area networks (multi-node),

2.      The Point -to Point (PPP),

3.      ADLC and

4.     ADCCP  for point-to-point (dual-node) connections.

Thanks
