The Network Path was Not Found Error

Hi there!

I have 10 work stations and all of them are already connected. I use one of the work station to check if the networks are ok. When i run the cmd prompt line the networks are successfully connected. When I ping the ip address thru run command, the error came out;

Workgroup

\HP is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.

The network path was not found.

What is exactly the error all about? Is the ip address is conflict with other station? Or is it the server's ip address? I don't know much about networking i only knew basic of networking. Can you fix this problem by posting your answers on my post? Help is considered debt of gratitude Thank you so much

Hi Mischelle,

If you encountered this problem then you have to check again the status of the \Hp computer. Check if the network cables are running properly and if they are plugged in. Now check the 2 computers' Sharing status. Using the \Hp computer, can you access the main computer? If you can then it seems there is a problem with the Sharing settings on the \Hp computer. There is also a possibility that you may have forgotten to enable its Sharing. Lastly, does the \Hp computer have a username and password? Double check it.

Your last resort would be to restart the whole process of connecting it to the network. Change all the settings back to its default state and this time, refer to another computer which you can access and copy all of its settings, excluding the name.

Hi Mischelle,

First of all you must check if all the workstations in your entire network is being able to see by your server. You said you have 10 workstations does your server see all these 10 workstations?

If your server sees all these workstation then, all you have to do is give all these workstation the rights to access to the server, if you have already added all the user to have permission to access the server then all you have to do is create a shared folder to the server make it a full access to all workstations, when it’s done go now to all the workstation and test all the terminals if they can access the folder you create in your server.

If ask a user and password to get access to the folder you created, then type the administrator to the username and the administrator password, it will now can access the folder you create.

Hope this can help.
