If you are currently connected to your wireless network and just want to know the WEP key:

  • You can open your wireless icon, at the bottom right of your screen, to the left of the clock on your system tray and right click, the network you are currently connected to and click on properties.
  • Then click the security tab and it will show you the password all in dots. You have to put a check on the box that says "Show characters" and it will automatically show you the password. Please see screenshot at the bottom.

If you are not connected to your wireless network and you don't know what the WEP key is, you have to connect a computer to your router or modem/router combo device using an Ethernet cord.

  • Then you have to open a browser, Internet Explorer is preferred, and clear the address bar. You have to type in, 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1, depending on what router brand or model you are using.
  • After that, you will be asked for an administrator login and password information. By default, you need to type "admin' in the username field, and "password" in the password field all in lower case.
  • Next, you will be routed to the router's Graphical User Interface.
  • You need to find the Wireless tab or option, then find wireless security, or for others it just says security, and it will show you the password.

Hello!

Here is the procedure to get your network key.

Go to Start – control panel – network connections – double click on the wireless network connection – click on support tab – it`s important to note the default address – open the browser you are using and type the default address – wireless router configuration window is opened and when you click on the wireless setup section of the router, you will be able to find the network key.
