Network Error, connection timed out error

I received this error message while trying to remotely connect to one of my Linux server. I used PuTTy.exe to establish a connection between host and server. When I enter the IP address of the Linux server machine and click on connect, it takes sometime as if it is going to connect and comes up with the following message:

Network error: Connection timed out

I have already disabled the firewall on my Windows machine which I have PuTTy installed on. Now I am not sure if the issue could be with my Linux box or my application.

Please help.

I think the server you are using is offline. You have to contact the admin of the server which you are using. Or you can also try SFTPin place of SCP. The other thing is that you might be able to login to your server somehow But your server could not confirming all the requirements of WinSCP server using in the mode of SCP. In this situation you should try to bin the shell on the tab of SCP in the dialog of login.

Have you tried to access the WAN address or LAN address of your system? Any LAN address will never be accessible from the outside of the LAN of your system; you are also familiar that now most of the networks are alike so you were probably trying to access something during the work. There might be another reason that your WAN IP have some other address or subject so you must check that. Or you can also use the service of DNS which is dynamic in nature.
