Network connection problem with a computer running on XP

My computer is running XP (SP3) and I’ve been experiencing some connection problems for almost 2 days now. This computer is part of my network. The internet connection does not reach the map drive of the server.  I’ve tried shutting down the unit , restarting it again and running the virus scan.  I’ve also checked if I need to defrag ,  since it says “low disk space” even if there is still over 100GB free space. I’ve already checked the firewall and reset the router, but still, nothing happens. I don’t know what to do with this. Please help me fix this problem.

Hallo Adlane,

You should check the network connection ports on the computer and ensure that they are not faulty. When you plug in the network cable you should be able to see green and orange to establish that the computer has successful connected to the network.

Otherwise the problem could be with the cable. If you crimped it yourself, then you might have rearranged the color coding hence packets cannot be transmitted. Check the RJ45 connector and ensure that they are not broken or faulty anywhere. Check the cable too and ensure that it is not broken somewhere.

Hi Adlane,

Before using the XP , Try to do the following first:

  1. Click the START MENU> then RUN and you have to type these command: ncpa.cp1 and then hit OK.  For the appropriate network connection do the right click and choose repair.
  2. For the Winsock to be repaired
  • Go to START MENU > RUN>You have to type netsh winsock to reset and then hit OK.  Then there will be a notification that you have to restart your computer.

Hope this could help you.

Thanks.

Hello,

If the problem is the network connection to your PC is not running on the windows XP you must do you just simply connect the Start button and then just simply click the connect to since the network or possibly try this unique purely this if the network discovery since the location is blocking on the PC is set to OFF to adjustment that purely go to the start list of options key and then connect the Control Panel and simply connect the Network and Internet and just connect the network and sharing center from there just look the network discovery adjustment the location simply click the arrow key and then you just simply connect Turn on network discovery and purely connect the Apply key.
