NetFX30; Windows Installer: upgrade patch cannot be installed

I have tried this optional, non-security update on 4 computers, all of which have .NET 3.5 SP1 installed. Each machine is having this error. How do I solve this problem?

 

Windows Installer

The update patch cannot be installed by the Windows Installer service because the program to be upgraded may be missing or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program. Verify that the program to be upgraded exists on your computer and that you have the correct upgrade patch.

Hello,

While updating certain programs you must note that the updated file you are trying to install should be the immediate update of the previous version. And also make sure that the update file has no errors and has been downloaded correctly. You must install the same version update of the software. Try to download the fresh copy of the update patch and try installing again.
