My laptop before was infected by “System Check Malware Virus” but I managed to clean it and repair its effects manually since my Skype has gone down. But the thing is, when I try to use Skype again I got to meet these irritating errors again: “(debugged using Microsoft Visual Studio 2008): Unhandled exception at 0x005e4f47 in Skype.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x000017e8”. I assumed that it will work back normally because I have reinstalled it already but still same thing has occurred. How do I get to repair it? I have used the newest version of Microsoft Security Essentials, Windows SP3 32-bit and Skype 5.8. Can you see any mistake with the programs I’m using? Can this possibly still be fixed?

Possible fix is that first, you should address the error first to Skype Developers and wait for their response as this question happened also in other person who has been affected by a malware and succeed to clean the malware but failed to fix this bug. I might give options to do, so just have a little patience mending your problem, as I view it, you might be needing Skype importantly.

Try the following suggestions below to fix the bug…

  1. I believe you have your antivirus, which I think a good one (MS Essentials-which I also use), you just need to update it if it’s not; else
  2. Try uninstalling and reinstalling Skype
  3. If nothing had happened, it  might be something serious occurred in the Operating system, (Windows XP)… This might be tedious, but I might suggest you have to reformat your PC.

Oh, this is serious problem, I didn’t even encountered it, I hope I won’t eh.. =)

I am using Skype, MS Essentials, and Windows 7 Ultimate…

I hope this has helped.
