Need help converting file types with Camtasia

Hi. I badly need help as I need to finish my project as soon as possible. I have .camproj files saved in my Windows Vista PC. I used Camtasia Studio of TechSmith.com. I am almost done with the project but today, I can't seem to access those files. I keep getting an error stating that Camtasia Studio doesn't support the file type. On the properties of the file that I cannot access, the file type is saved as .camproj~. Does anyone encounter the same problem? How did you manage to resolve it? If none, how can I convert those file type to the correct file needed? It was working well for the past few days but this morning, I did some backup to my files and put it on my external HDD. I remembered the Camtasia Studio is empty and I wasn't able to back up those files for whatever reason it is. And then I performed a defragmentation for 8 hours. Is there a possibility that the problem is connected to it? Kindly please help me. Thanks.

The video file format that will open the Camtasia videos well is the *.camrec format, and therefore I will suggest that you change the default settings for saving the video files to *.camrec.

But if the problem is opening the Camtasia video files on a computer, you will need to convert them into the AVI or MP4, or any other format that you want. To do that, you will need to video converter, and I will recommend that you download one called the Xilisoft Video Converter. It is a freeware application, and therefore you will need to go to Google or your other favorite search engine, download it and install and then use it for converting the Camtasia videos.

In order to open this type of file you need an flv or flash video player. But before that you need to have Camtasia. To convert this file to flv, go to file and click open project, choose "browse" and select the file you want to convert.

Once the file has been opened as a project click on the button, "Produce video as link".

This button will be on the left of Camtasia studio. A production wizard will start. Select the option which says, "Flash Output", and click next. Choose a file name and store it at an easy to remember place. Leave all other options unchanged and click "finish".

This will convert the file in flv format. After this the file can be played in any program that supports flv format. I hope this would help you get rid of the issue at hand. Thank you
