My Windows 8.1 PC was force to download

Hello experts,

When I opened my computer, there is a blue ribbon with a message that says,

“Download w8.1 free and go to the store.”

There is no option but to go to the store. I tried to disconnect from the Internet so it would not start the download automatically. My question is, how can I stop the notification from appearing again on my computer. Can someone please provide some steps to resolve this?

I you want to stop updates from happening,

  • Take your mouse at bottom right corner or swipe on touch screen from right edge and select settings
  • Select Control Panel from the top
  • Open the last option 'Windows updates'
  • Select 'Change Settings'
  • Select from the drop down option 'Never check for updates'

And it won't bother you with updates any more.
