My web cam isn’t working

Good Day Techyv,

Last week I bought a new webcam and really excited to try the cam I ordered from eBay, unfortunately when I try to plug it in, it is not working on my windows 7 company. I tried to bring my webcam to my friends computer which use Windows XP and it worked without problem, we thought it was because of the webcam drivers. Anyone can help where I can get a driver for my web cam?

Thank you

We might have incompatibility issue in here. The webcam you've bought might be an older model that is not compatible with Windows 7.

Possible issue also is the driver that needs to install in Windows to recognized the webcam.

You may go to the webcam manufacturer's website and research the driver available for download. Most webcam websites has software that can be downloaded and ready for installation.

Go to Start, Control Panel, Hardware and Sound and Device Manager.
Look for newly detected device, webcam in Other Devices and do a right click.
Update the driver via CD or online.

You can download a special driver software that windows 7 have released. It is a webcam driver for windows 7, it generally works for many webcams but it is not actually the most compatible one with your webcam.

Also try to Google you webcam driver, for example you can try this: on the search box of Google type "[Brand Name] [Model] driver for Windows 7". I have an A4tech webcam, so what will I type in the search box goes like this "A4tech PK-635K driver for Windows 7".

You can now check the results and see if you will find the most compatible with your webcam.
