I was taking pictures with my Sony Alpha DSLR-A100 Digital Camera and pressed the shutter release button. It took so long and finally error code 0x56 came up. I tried pressing release again but it’s no good. How to fix this?

The error code might be 0x5b instead of 0x56 as DSLR A100 Digital Camera often has this problem. The error has something to do with the aperture assembly in the camera.
Check the warranty and if it still covers today's period, then have it checked by bringing it to the shop/store where it was purchased. Before going to the service shop, try fixing it on your own by doing these:
1) Place the camera in A-mode.
2) Shoot an image in a wide open area.
3) Check aperture level position, in case steps 1 and 2 fail.
4) You can also check by clicking this- aperture level position
You should also try upgrading your camera’s firmware to try and fix it. But before going to the update, you should check first your camera’s current firmware version. To check your camera’s current firmware version, do the following:
This version 1.04 firmware update only applies to camera’s with firmware version lower than 1.04. If your camera’s current firmware version is already 1.04 or maybe higher, this update is already not necessary.
This update applies only to camera model DSLR-A100 and supports Mac OS X 10.1 or higher. To download this update and to read the full instructions on how to properly do the update, please visit the link given below..
There is also another version of the update that works on Windows operating system. If your computer is running on any versions of Windows platforms, please visit DSLR-A100 Camera Firmware Update for Windows.
