My phone is very slow every time I run any application

If you haven't updated the IPhone to its latest version please update it to the latest version cause it has the slowdown/lag fixes.

Do check your storage if the used storage is more please delete unwanted songs, videos, apps, photos, etc. 

And if you have updated and still the phone lags than it might occur cause of the update but you would like to try to reduce motion and effect settings which can be done by 1 Go to settings 2 Select General 3 select accessibility 4 than select reduce motion by default it is off click on the button and it will turn green this will help speed up speed a little.

And another setting you can do to optimize the device is reduce transparency it can be done by the following steps :-

1 Go to settings 2 Select General 3 select accessibility 4 select increase contrast 5 choose reduce transparency again it will be off by default just turn it on. 

If it still doesn't than sometimes iPhone goes crazy after the update or even without update than you just got to reset the settings it can be done by following steps :-

1 Go to settings 2 Select General 3 select Reset 4  select Reset all settings.

Note :- reset all settings wont delete the data but sometimes some users has complained about losing their iCloud data being deleted so do at your own risk.

If it still Lag after reset all settings the only option left is to use reset factory settings but before doing that you want to take a backup of your iPhone on to your pc than reset factory settings can be done by this way.

1 Go to settings 2 Select General 3 select Reset  4 select Reset all settings and content.
