Normally, when you play a video on a computer, it should not take several minutes before the video starts playing. It doesn’t matter how big the video is, when you load and play it with any media player it should start playing immediately after hitting on the play button. If the media player you used takes time before it starts playing the video, you should check first if the video is in HD format.

Usually, when playing an HD video on a standard monitor with not too fast processor, the video will mostly not play smoothly. It takes little pauses as it plays the video. This is normal. But if your video is not in HD, there might be something wrong with the media player. Try playing the video on other media players like in Windows Media Player or in VLC media player.

See how long these media players load the video. If the problem only happens in one particular media player, try reinstalling it. Uninstall it first, restart your computer, and then install it back. Try playing the video again then see if it’s the same. You may also check your computer for any sign of infection. Update your antivirus then run a scan on your computer.

If your computer is already slow in the first place, it could be infected by a virus. If you wish to use other media player, try VLC media player. The latest version is 2.1.1.
