Hello Everyone,

I'm using iMac 2.8 GHz, with 4GB RAM. I've Office 2008 in my iMac. Suddenly my Office 2008 is not responding. Whenever I try to open any document, it shows an error message. I just don't know what to do. Is there any possible solutions to recover it. Please let me know. Thanks.

Mamunur.

Hi Mamunur,

This is a very common problem to all who are using Microsoft Office in Mac.  I heard about  this problem more from others. Sounds like you are new in Mac platform. I think I can help you to fix it up. You have to follow very simple procedures.

Go to Application ; then Utility; then Disc Utility ; now click on your hard drive in the left side;  then hit Repair Permissions. This will take a little bit time. After finishing Reboot the computer. I think now you are able to open any MS office documents. Cheers!

Thanks, I tried your solution but I still unable  to use it. The problem is same as before. For your information, I'm using the Office 2008 Mac License version.

Ok, could you please restart your computer and then try to open any MS document. I'm asking you to restart the computer because sometimes, computer needs to generate your command setting, what you did before.

If it doesn't work then, as you mentioned you are using the licensed version. Please reinstall your software and be sure your existing Office 2008 is permanently uninstalled. Cheers!

Well done and thanks, you've perfectly followed my instruction. It would be better also for you, as you are using a Licensed version to regularly update your software. You can select Automatically for the update. It will help you to update your software time to time. Updating software keeps your software running smoothly. All the best.

I had the same problem and I solved it. Just try with these steps. You have to go to User/Library directory and rename the fonts file; then reboot. It recreated the fonts file. All office applications scan the fonts file, before opening and refuse to open, if there is a file that is corrupted. Now you will be able to open any office documents in your Mac. I think this will help you to fix your Office 2008.

Regards,
