My Computer Turn off automatically itself.

I am using XP SP2 and my computer screen blacks out ; my CPU turns off by itself after using it for like 3 minutes.

It is very frustrating when I do my work and I don't know what to do with it! The CD slot opens automatically by itself, when I try to turn it on after it blacks out.  Also, I can’t turn it on, I must wait for about 5 minutes to do so.

Is it  possible to stay on my Windows without formatting my PC.

Please help me!

  • Yes, you can stay with your current Windows without reformatting your computer. All you need to do is boot on safe mode and on safe mode window. Scan your computer with an Antivirus and remove all virus infections. There are some possibilities that your computer is infected with virus.
  • Another reason could be, power failure. You may check your power source outlet. Check if the plug is properly inserted also checking your Automatic Voltage Regulator. Some Automatic Voltage Regulators cut power, if there is a power failure.
  • Your CD ROM drive ejects, because of the abrupt power supplied to it. So power source is the primary suspect in this issue.

When such an error occurs. It mainly depends on the computer registry. The problem occurs mostly when the computer is affected highly by a virus. Therefore, an Antivirus must be installed to protect your computer and avoid restarting by itself.

Mostly make use of the Antivirus by updating it to protect the latest viruses that can be transported to your computer system.  Without an Antivirus, the computer overheats and it restarts every after switching it on.
