I had installed Avast anti-virus on my PC, my computer crashed and i had to restart in safe mode. When i restarted i run diagnostics to check on what the problem was & it was because the license had expired. I tried to uninstall through the uninstall program so that i re-install again but it doesn't help. Any idea on why my Avast don't work?

Did you try uninstalling the avast antivirus on safe mode? If you did, then probably this could be the problem. When in safe mode, the OS loads the very basic and required device drivers and software. It is therefore not possible to successfully uninstall programs from safe mode.
Otherwise if you are uninstalling the avast from the normal mode, then the possibility is that the OS that just crush is still corrupted, hence you might need to do a system repair or clean installation.

I think maybe the reason is that the avast you've previously installed is way more higher than the ones you installed. Avast updates its registry and database. When you uninstall your AVAST you only uninstall the program but not its registry. My suggestion is that you first delete the Avast registry. then after you've deleted it Try to install the AVAST again.

If you have uninstalled it using the add/remove program tool, it should already be uninstalled. But I need for you to double check if it has been removed from the Registry. I need you to be careful with these steps as it is possible that problems might occur if it is done incorrectly. You can manually uninstall it from the registry by following these steps:Â
Assuming you are using Windows XP
1. Click "Start" and "Run"
2. Type "regedt32" (without quotation) on the blank field and click ok.
3. From the registry editor, locate the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareMicrosoftWindowscurrentversionUninstall
4. Choose the program (Avast) which you want to uninstall and double click.
5. Copy the string data and paste it on the "Run" command and press enter to start uninstalling the program.
If you are installing an older version of Avast, this might also cause some problems in running it. So make sure that if you are installing a new one, you have the newer version.
