Hello,

When I open v. .0 scores in MS 1.0 via the desktop (double-click on the icon) or clicking on a link in the forums I get a dialog as seen below. Any help to resolve this error would be appreciated. Thanks.

Muse Score Reading file <C:UserschepersDesktopsrtytwr.mscz> failed: Result too large

Hi there Thomas G Britt,

I'm sorry to hear about your troubles. There could be a few reasons you're getting this error.

The very first thing you should do is to check the file path stated in the error. Open it using your explorer and check if the file is there, and if all permissions are set correctly. You should also try to run the software as an Administrator as this could be the simple permission problem.

There is a known bug in the software. In case your file is saved in the folder which name contains diacritics or non Latin characters, the software will return this error. This is easily fixable by renaming the folder that contains the files that cannot be accessed.

Another possible problem could be that you are running out of the space. You've mentioned you are storing the files on the desktop. Desktop files are almost always located on the system disk that is a smaller partition, so you may want to check if you have enough disk space or move the file to the another partition or disk. You can always create a shortcut that will show the item on your desktop but you won't be using your system disk space.

Best regards,
Drake Vivian
