I am having issues on my Shockwave Plug-in. I am using Google Chrome 13.0.782.107. Everytime I play any video on the internet, an error message like this shows up: “The following plug in has crashed: Shockwave Flash.”

It may have something to do with my iTunes which stopped playing any song and my The Sims 3 application which is no longer working.

Thanks to those who can help!

This error has nothing to do with your iTunes or Sims 3 applications. This is a common error which is faced by few Chrome users. There are few things i will suggest,

  • Install the latest version of Chrome.
  • Reinstall Flash player.
  • Use Ccleaner Registry Cleaner to clean up all the unwanted registries.

After that if the problem still persists then do the following things

  • Go to your plugins page by entering ’chrome://plugins/’ in the bar.
  • Find your Flash Plugin that is crashing.
  • If it says ’Flash (2 files)’, then you’re in luck! You just might be able to turn one off which ever you want to and make it work again!
  • Click the details link in the upper right corner. View the details of the flash listing. it will give you some help.
  • Find older version of the flash and disable it from under the location section of the list and test out a page in flash and hit refresh.
  • If that still doesn’t work, you may need to check the location of the flash plugin. In my case I had one version stored in the Goggle apps folder and another in the User Library folder. I switched off the one in the Google folder. Why i did so is because the flash was working OK in all other applications that uses flash.
  • If that STILL doesn’t work. Switch out those plugins which are enabled & disabled.
  • And if that STILL AIN’T WORKING, contact Google. Go to their forums and they will surely help you out.
  • Also try disabling the Flash hardware acceleration or updating your video card drivers from their site or from filehippo.com. If you haven't shut down your computer recently, try restarting your computer as well. Reinstalling Flash has also worked for some people.
