MS Access Service Pack Installation Error

Hi,

I am using MS Access 2003 running under Microsoft Windows XP with Service Pack 2. I encountered a problem when I opened a database. It prompted me to have a copy of Jet 4 with Service Pack 8 installed on my computer.

When on the process of installing Jet 4, I came across an error of KB829558 Setup Error, and it suggested that there is no need for me to install a Service Pack since the service pack I am trying to install is older version than what I already have.

KB829558 Setup Error

Setup has detected that the Service Pack version of this system is newer than the update you are applying.

There is no need to install this update.

I am wondering why the system at first suggested me to install a Service Pack while I have a newer Service Pack installed. It's quite tricky for me to understand.

If somebody has tried solving this issue,

Please do share some points.

First of all you need to make sure that the Jet 4 you are trying to install to your PC is indeed with Service Pack 8.

From the error it is producing, I presume that the version is most likely previous to the one already installed on your PC and it is better if you download a fresh installer for Jet 4 with Service Pack 8 at this site. After you download just try to install and see how it goes!

If you come across the same problem even with the installer from the site, you might want to try uninstalling all previous installations of Jet 4 from the control panel of your computer and do a fresh install.
