I had installed Mozilla Firefox 2 internet browser on my computer (I have a Window XP Operating System). The problem came in when I tried to download some add on it because it gives me this error message: "Firefox could not install the file because: Unexpected installation error. Review the error Console log for more detail. -203".

What seems to be the problem and what is the best solution for this? I am waiting for your great help. Thanks!

Dear Conklin,

You have problems in your Mozilla browser, which show error when you trying to download add-ons. Here are some tips for you, which will help you to solve your problem. Please follow the instructions:

  • You are using Mozilla Firefox 2. It is a very old version. May be add-ons are incompatible with that version of Firefox.
  • You can use Mozilla Firefox 4. I hope it will solve your problem.
  • It may be caused by virus. You need to scan your computer with an antivirus.
  • Then install again Mozilla Firefox.
  • If still problem remains, then you have to reinstall your operating system.

I hope your problem will be solved. Thank you.

Try to reset Firefox. Go to your Profile Folder and remove the following: (Refer to this link on how to find your Profile Folder: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox#Finding_the_profile_folder)

– extensions.ini

– extensions.cache

– extensions.rdf

Ensure that Firefox is not running before removing the files above. It will regenerate those when you restart the Firefox. If this method don't work, uninstall your Firefox completely and reinstall it back. You can get it on the link below:
