For what “Boot to Gecko” doesn’t have much of a ring to it, Mozilla announced today that its upcoming phone OS will now be called “Firefox OS.” The new platform also has the backing of major over the world wide carriers, including Sprint and Telefonica, and a couple device manufacturers?

Yes. The first device featuring Firefox OS to be manufactured by TCL communications Technology (Alcatel) and ZTE.
They plan to launch a system an ecosystem based on HTML 5.
And they confirm that they will use its Firefox brand. And this is built entirely to open web standards.
Where all the capabilities can and will be developed as HTML 5 applications.
