All you need is your Blackberry's USB data cable, a Windows PC and Blackberry Desktop Software.

First, you should backup your old Blackberry's data to your PC.  Here's how:

1.  Connect your BB to your Windows computer and activate Blackberry Desktop Software.

2.  Go to Back Up and Restore.

3.  Choose Backup to make a full backup of your contacts and other BB settings.

4.  Pick the folder where you want to store the backup information.

Your old BB's data is now stored in your PC.

To transfer the contacts and other settings, disconnect your old BB from the PC and connect your new BB to the PC.  Basically, you just repeat the same procedure above only, instead of choosing Backup, choose Restore.

Your contacts are now in your new BB.

This eliminates the process of manually copying the contacts one by one from the old to the new phone. First, if you don’t have yet the BlackBerry Desktop Software, download it first from BlackBerry Desktop Software 7.1.

This version of the BlackBerry Desktop Software is for users with BlackBerry 7.1 OS Smartphone. You can also use it on a BlackBerry with an older operating system. But if your BlackBerry Smartphone is running on BlackBerry 10 OS, BlackBerry Desktop Software 7.1 is not for you. If you have a BlackBerry 10 OS Smartphone, use the BlackBerry Link Software instead. Once downloaded, install it on your computer.

First, connect your old BlackBerry Smartphone to your computer using the USB cable. Once it is connected, start the BlackBerry application and wait until it connects to your phone. After that, from the BlackBerry application, click Back Up. Select which data to backup. You can decide to backup the entire phone or only specific data. Once the backup is complete, close the BlackBerry application then disconnect the phone.

Take note of the location where you saved the backup data. Next, connect your new BlackBerry handset to the computer using the USB cable then start the BlackBerry application. Wait until it connects to the phone. From the BlackBerry application, select Restore. Navigate to the location of the backup file then select it. Restore the backup data to the new handset.
