When many users were expecting the arrival of the upgrade to Android Ice Cream Sandwich, The new (and first) software upgrade for DROID 4 has been released, It will bring the build of this last to 6.13.219.

But what are the new features that this upgrade will bring to the DROID4, actually the release note includes the new widget of MotoCast, improved and extended battery life, and some fixes such as fixes for keyboard backlight troubles and fixes for Wi-Fi connectivity troubles.

Since you are using a Motorola, simply visit Motorola Home Page and download updates for your model. The Motorola DROID 4 XT894 is designed for Verizon. It supports all 3 networks: 2G, 3G, and 4G and fits in a mini-SIM.

It was announced in January 2012 and was immediately released the following month. It measures 127 x 67.3 x 12.7 millimeters and weighs 178.9 grams. It has a TFT capacitive touchscreen display with 16M colors at 540 x 960 pixels screen resolution. It supports multitouch, 3.5-millimeter jack, microSD expandable up to 32 GB, 16 GB internal storage, and a built-in QWERTY keyboard running on 1 GB RAM.

It has Bluetooth 4.0 with support for LE+EDR and microUSB 2.0. The primary camera supports 8 megapixels at 3264 x 2448 pixels resolution with LED flash and autofocus. It features image stabilization, face detection, and geo-tagging. It is capable of video recording in 1080p at 30 fps. The secondary camera supports 1.3 megapixels at 720p.

It runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread powered by TI OMAP 4430 chipset with dual-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A9 processor and PowerVR SGX540 GPU. This model is able to upgrade to 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. For internet browsing, it supports HTML and Adobe Flash plus Java support with Java MIDP emulator. It is powered by a non-removable Li-Ion 1785 mAh battery with standby time of up to 204 hours and talk time of up to 12 hours 30 minutes.

It can be purchased for around 340 Euros. Though it supports LTE network, the speed is only limited to 700 MHz.
