The moment I ticked on the "Check for Update" key in iTunes, the error warning below comes up, I am linked to the web by means of an Ethernet Cable and I am able to access the iTunes store in iTunes so I certainly have a link to the internet in iTunes.

As it stated, try again later, I have  been attempting again and again. Is this problem with Apple or iTunes?

Thanks for any help you will be extending.

The iPhone software update server could not be contacted.

Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, or try again later.

If you are attempting to update your iPhone’s software that is installed on your computer and you keep on receiving the same error again and again, I think the problem is the link that is programmed in the application to contact the server. It is possible that the link programmed in the software is different from the existing update server address. Maybe the website updated and changed their update server. If this is the case then there’s no solution to your problem.

What you can do now is find a new version or if it is possible the latest version of the iPhone’s software and then install it on your computer.

But, on the other hand, if you are attempting to update your iPhone’s firmware through your computer, I think it is not possible. You should update your phone’s firmware directly from the phone and not through a computer.
