Hi,

When the BI add-in is enabled the following error is generated when attempting to open an embedded Excel object contained in a Word document. When the BI add-in is disabled normal functioning is restored. This was tested several times. This occurs using Office 2010 and also now Office 2013 versions. End task is required to recover: I need some help.

Program is either not installed on your computer or it is not responding.

Microsoft Word: The program used to create this object is Excel. That program is either not installed on your computer or it is not responding. < To edit this object, install excel or ensure that any dialog boxes in excel are closed.

The Oracle BI Add-in program once installed allows you to run analysis directly in Microsoft Excel. When you imported the Excel file, you must have worked on it using the BI Add-in program. When Oracle BI Add-in is installed, that Excel file can only be edited using the original source file. That means if you paste it on a Word document, you cannot edit it.

The two things you can do are:

  1. Disable the Oracle BI Add-in when editing an Excel file embedded on a Word file.
  2. Work on the source file of the Excel document and paste it on the Word document as needed.
